The Addiction

Any type of vice or addiction is due to our psychological defects, our “self” which can also be called “ego”.

These defects, which we create ourselves through our bad habits, are kept alive and are nourished every time we yield to vice, by smoking a cigarette, swallowing alcohol or using some other type of narcotic or hallucinating substances.

Although not specifically dealt with here, other vices such as gambling, prostitution, etc., have the same cause, effect and solution.  

The most serious problem is that whenever the ego is fed, it becomes stronger and consequently has more power over the addicted person, acting on his psyche and on his organism, forcing this poor person to fall back into the vice and thus feed his shortcoming once again.

It is easy to conclude that this is turning into a “snowball”, a problem which was initially small becomes something entirely out of control.  

For this reason, people become addicted even by using small amounts in the beginning, due to their belief that they can abandon the vice as soon as they want to. This is a great error, because even by these small quantities a psychological defect is already created and nourished, and very slowly, gets stronger and starts involving its victim until it has total control over this person. When he or she “wakes up”, the addiction problem is already very strong.

How to radically free oneself from vices?

Fortunately, there is within the human being a latent power which is able to root out of its interior any type of vice. The only thing necessary is for the the person to really want to change and to begin to dedicate himself immediately and continuously to this end.  

In this way he will certainly be freed from the vice or addiction, however strong it may be.

To know how to do this, study and practice the material contained in the documents “The human machine” and “Mystical Death”, preferably in this order.

Alcohol

Alcohol addiction brings terrible consequences to the addict. Besides the notorious harmful effects that go from cirrhosis to hallucination and insanity, alcohol is also disastrous to the spiritual life, because it has the power of reviving psychological defects which had already been eliminated through mystical death.

The most dangerous aspect related to alcohol is that it is treated as a social element, always present in reunions, parties, celebrations and even in homes, without distinction of cultural or social class.

Everywhere, the addiction to alcohol is subtly infiltrated.

For this reason, surveys each year indicate that the average age for the first dose of alcoholic beverage by young people is getting lower and lower. It is currently at only around 11 years.  

Below, some extracts from the chapter “The Demon of Algol”, taken from the book “The Mystery of Golden Blossom”, written by V.M. Samael Aun Weor:

 “It is manifestly clear that alcohol tends to eliminate the capacity of independent thinking and calm judgment since it fatally stimulates fantasy, and also shockingly weakens the sense of ethics and individual freedom.

Dictators and tyrants from all ages have always been aware that it is easier to govern and enslave a nation of drinkers than one of abstainers.

It is also well known that in a state of intoxication you can make someone accept any suggestion and carry out deeds that are contrary to their sense of decency and morality. The influence of alcohol on crime is notorious, so much so that it is unnecessary to stress the fact.”

 “Listen to me very carefully, Gnostic students! In the light of the sun or of the moon, of day or of night, you have to be radical with the Algol Demon! Any agreement, transaction, diplomacy or negotiation with this evil spirit is doomed to failure sooner or later.”

Drugs  

The problem with drugs is another scourge which afflicts mankind, mainly young people.

Enormous amonts of money have been spent, but neither government nor science is able to find a solution to this problem, which gets more and more serious day by day and affects all classes.

The only way to solve this problem in a radical and definitive way is to follow the instructions described above.  

Addiction is a psychological and inner problem and must be fought in this sphere.

Effects of drug addiction are as devastating as those of alcohol, but its harm is perceived much earlier.

Besides the harmful effects known by science, such as psychic and physical dependency, use of these substances may rapidly lead to sexual impotence and insanity.

Also, damage in the occult anatomy of human beings is very serious. Below, some extracts from the chapter “Drugs”, taken from the book “Christmas Message 88-89”, authored by V.M. Rabolu:

 “We can clearly see a young man begins taking drugs and in a short period of time becomes like a decrepit old man, because drugs affect his sexual functions. 

This person becomes prematurely sexually impotent. Why is this? If he inhales the drug through the nose, respiration is directly connected to sexual functions, to energy, and obviously starts destroying the sexual functions; and by smothering energy, life is rapidly extinguished too.  

If we observe the vital body, or etheric body, to the fourth coordinate or fourth dimension, the vital body of a common person is seen as brilliant and shining. Conversely, in a drug-addict this body starts losing color, as the vital parts disintegrate. He progressively loses his brilliance, until he becomes a corpse.

As we know, the vital body is what vitalizes or gives life to him and restores the physical body, during the time in which it is resting and sleeping. If we lose our vital part, it is obvious we are on the edge of the cemetery."
