The
awful ego
The
ego is the sum of our various psychological defects
which live in our inner world and, which we have created
and unconsciously nourished ourselves. Each of these
defects is also called “self” or “ego detail”.
There is nothing of divine or superior in the ego, it
really is the cause of our sufferings, unconsciousness, errors, addictions, etc.
In
ancient Egypt ego was referred to as the “red demons
of Seth” which Osiris had to fight. In Bhagavadgita
the ego was the “kinsfolk” which Arjuna had to fight
in frightful battles.
In
Mythology the ego is, among other symbolisms,
personified by Medusa, who causes every type of
suffering to men and who was beheaded by the sword of
Perseu.
Also
in the Bible we can recognize the ego in what are called
the “capital sins”: lust, anger, jealousy,
covetousness, gluttony, laziness and pride. As long as
we maintain this inhuman nature within us, we will be
limited, unconscious, suffering creatures, victims of
circumstances. If human beings didn’t carry within
them this ego, the world would be a true paradise.
The
Essence
Our
consciousness is a divine particle, a part of our Real
Being. Also we can call it “Essence”. It is the only
thing of value within us and it is immortal. As we are
eliminating the ego details, we are strengthening this
consciousness or soul, since each ego aspect keeps a
fraction of our Essence in prison. This is how we really
are changing inside, replacing gradually our defects by
new virtues and, getting closer to Divinity.
The
Divine Mother
There
is also inside us another divine particle of our Real
Being, which we call “Divine Mother”.
In ancient
cultures she was always venerated. The Greek Caste
Diana, the Egyptian Isis, the Aztec Coatlicue, the Hindu
Shakti, Stella Maris of medieval alchemists, Mary of
Christians, etc., are other names of the Divine Mother
within the symbolisms of each people and each period of
time.
Just like our physical mother, she takes care of
her daughter or son and she is individual.
Each human
being has his own Divine Mother. We always must ask for
her help, consolation and protection.
She never rejects
a supplicating son, as long as he has right behavior.
Her main mission within us is exactly to eliminate the
ego, each psychological defect that we are able to
perceive. With her help we will psychologically die,
exterminating the ego, eliminating our cause of
suffering, regenerating ourselves with concrete facts
and awakening our consciousness from the deep state of
dreaming we are in. This is what really matters.
Mystical
Death
The
work of mystical death has always been taught to
humanity by various Masters who came to instruct them to
put an end to their own suffering. Jesus (the most
exalted of all), Buddha, Quetzalcoatl (The Aztec
Christ), Hermes Trismegisto from Egypt, and Krishna,
among others.
Each one taught the same doctrine, however
adapted to their respective time, with their own
concepts and symbols.
Unfortunately, when the Master
leaves, men, manipulated by their own egos begin to
distort the doctrine and gradually the main precept is
lost or hidden from humanity.
Let’s
go to the practice:
First
of all, it is fundamental that we practice
self-observation, focusing our attention to our
emotions, feelings, thoughts, etc. When we perceive the
operation of a detail at some of the centers of the
human machine, we must mentally ask our Divine Mother to
eliminate that defect, and she will then destroy it.
Immediately, the detail is then eliminated and we redeem
that part of consciousness it was imprisoning.
This is
really very simple.
Each one makes a petition in the way
he thinks best, from his heart, but in an earnest way,
as when a child asks for something urgent to his mother.
Then, immediately the mother answers the request.
Everyone has his own words, but this would be an
example:
“Dear
mother, please, eliminate this defect, disintegrate
it!”
If
the same type of defect goes on appearing in our life,
we must appeal again for its elimination. Surely, this
defect will die. This is the practical and ultimate
means for eliminating the awful ego from ourselves,
which is causing so much pain and distress in all the
world.
